My precious Italian grandfather has been making his world-famous sausage for as long as I can remember. No Christmas dinner, family reunion or special gathering is complete without Papa’s homemade sausages…on d’amatos bread, of course. His sausage is one of our greatest traditions.
Tonight my husband and dad are driving down to spend the evening Papa and learn how to make his sausage. The boys will be grinding, casing and hanging the meat. [how very Sweeney Todd!] while papa show’s them how it’s done.
I am not sure what part of tonight’s activities I love the most….
the fact that my husband has so emphatically embraced and become part of my family’s traditions or the fact that he will now know the secrets of papa’s sausage!
Head to Toe: What I wore to a December Wedding at 6 Months Pregnant Edition
This past Friday night Simon and I were invited to a Winter Wedding. It was freezing out…the type of cold that burns your face…the type of cold that makes it near impossible to slip on anything without a sleeve.
Couple the crippling weather with the fact that I did not have the time [read: energy] to find a new dress, and I was forced shop my closet for something [anything!] that fit and get a little creative with my styling choices.
How I wore it:
Dress: Tucker for Target
Belt: A double sided ribbon [the whole ribbon as a belt thing has been clutch in accommodating my ever-changing bump size/location]
Boots: Colin Stuart
It is worth noting that this entire look was put together on the quick & cheap….a winning combination, imho.
And in case you are wondering, the wedding was a blast! We rolled home somewhere after midnight [which in pregnant people hours is a pretty insane night out] and had a riot catching up our friends. I am pretty sure my husband appreciated the opportunity to throw back a few grown-up drinks with so many of his college buddies.
The night felt a whole lot like the most beautiful and jam-packed-with-love Christmas Party ever thrown.
Beach House was the first of many albums gifted to me by m. She shares music in the way some friends share hugs or lengthy cell phone chats, by that I mean…her musical gifts say so much.
Teen Dream arrived in my inbox right before this weekend in Michigan [Beach House for the Lake House. Fitting, right?]…it became the soundtrack for a hard few days filled with both growing pains and incredible love.
The sounds were much needed & spot on.
When I listen to the album now, the songs are melancholy. a reminder of progress made.
I like Beach House & this song & despite what the title suggests, the winter sun.
