#Sick
(as in both “Ill” and “Awesome.”)
Yesterday was a sick day…every last one of us in the H-household, down for the count. Colds and flu’s, all around.
We had several get-togethers on the calendar, all of which had to be declined with serious-regret but it was our only option. Taking a sick-saturday gave us the opportunity to stay in soft-clothes and eyeglasses and rest. Ah, rest. So needed.
We napped when Hazel did.
And Simon made us soup (chicken noodle, in the pressure cooker)
We watched Moneyball (good!) and some college hoops
and caught the most magnificent golden hour of the year
(our apartment was filled with a glow so warm, you could actually feel the setting-sun on your skin…or maybe that was just the temperature I was running.)
but that wasn’t all
We caught a milestone.
A big one!
One that I was worried would happen while I was at work or off on a business trip…
Hazel took her first step!
Actually it was 2 steps. Then 2 more. Then 5 jerky but enthusiastic steps steps steps (show off!)
9 months and 3 weeks and my baby is walking. Oh my god!
Funny how it took runny noses and pounding headaches to demand a day of quiet… when a few preplanned days of quiet would likely have prevented these symptoms in the first place
But
I’ll take days like this anytime…
sick or otherwise.
