21 good ideas
or rather, a list of 21 things I think are good ideas.
Pick and choose whichever ones might add value to your life, feel free to ignore the rest….
- Get a record player
- Put glowsticks in the bathtub…turn out the lights and watch your little ones lose their mind, in a very good way! (*Credit to my friend Kristin for sharing this tip via FB.)
- Follow Katherine’s blog: erehwyna
- When dining at a restaurant with a great chef - let him (or her) pick your dishes.
- Watch Sound of Music (again). Sing along.
- Puree your baby’s food, pour the mixture in ice cube trays and freeze. Store cubes of like-food in plastic bags. Microwave individual cubes before serving. It’s automatic portion control that stays fresh for weeks! Way easier/less wasteful than keeping Tupperware of apple sauce and smashed peas in your fridge.
- Start a “charity club”…think book club, but instead of wine and novels, you get together with your friends to give back to the community. My commitment to our Children’s Choir was some of the most rewarding (and social) times of my life…mom, aunts, grandparents and friends all working together to put on a show!
- Drink Lemon/Cayenne Pepper Water. I make this recommendation not because it is the staple of many detoxes but because it tastes like a delicious spicy (no-cal) lemonade!
- Add “Run this Town,” “Empire State of Mind,” and “the Ballad of Sweeney Todd” to your running playlist.
- Use an online stopwatch when trying to be super productive at work. Set the countdown clock and accept absolutely no distractions (no excuses!) while the timer is running.
- Bust out 15, (30, 50!) push-ups before jumping in the shower each morning.
- When someone does great work, write them a letter telling them so (the make-up consultant at Barney’s, the Chef at your new favorite restaurant, the security guard at your office…anyone.)
- Don’t eff around when it comes to scheduling your annual women’s dr. visit or biannual teeth cleaning.
- Keep spare lip balms in coat pockets, desk drawers, tote bags and the like. Same goes for rubberbands.
- Invest in a killer pair of black pumps. I am thinking these Choos will do nicely.
- “Don’t let the Bastards get you Down” (solid advice from my Mimi!)
- Make-out with your husband (wife, boyfriend, girlfriend) often.
- Tell your mom “I love you” before you hang up the phone, every single time.
- Visit Miami. Have a drink poolside at the Delano after dark.
- Start a blog.
- Work hard. Be sweet. Do your best.
What have you got for me? Please share your good ideas!
