Zagat 30 under 30 | Chicago
Last night, Simon and I slipped out for a rare Monday evening on the town!
We joined our friends and some of the city’s most wicked talented chefs & mixologists at Paris Club for Zagat’s 30 Under 30 party.
It was a great scene…right up my alley!
I spent the night making a mental tally of which chefs I have had the pleasure of dining with…and which places needed to be added to my must-do list.  I networked with some friendly faces from around the Chicago dining community and met a couple of folks who I had previously only read about on Eater.
I also had the chance to chat with a couple of Top Chefs (as in peeps from the show).  Bonus Points: I think I talked Richie, the sous-chef from Moto, into doing a cooking demo/talk at my office.  He even promised to bring some liquid nitrogen.  Score!
But the highlight of my night had to be when I ran into my favorite sommelier in the city…Richard Richardson.  (I wrote about him here).  Richard was the man who guided us through our life-changing meal at Alinea one story/pour at a time.  Over the past few months, I have thought about that dinner often and replayed Richard’s tales in my mind… and as a result this dude has been elevated to near celebrity status in our household!  When I spotted him his crazy hair lingering near the bar, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass…and I marched right on up and laid it all out there!  I suppose most soms don’t have their own fan-clubs, so when I explained meeting him was way cooler than getting face-time with Oprah, he couldn’t help but laugh.
While there was something slightly unsettling about the fact that Simon and I are too old to ever make this list…we sure took advantage of the chance to celebrate with these crazy (talented) kids!

Yes, I am wearing the same shirt I had on the day before at Hazel’s Birthday party.  (please tell me I am not the only one who does this from time to time).
For those who asked, the top is DVF.
I haven’t bought any clothes for myself in ages, but my little-bump is just noticeable enough that investing in a pregnancy-friendly party-piece seemed necessary.
I picked-up this flowy shirt at Neimans over the weekend while waiting for them to gift wrap Hazel’s gift.  I justified my impulse buy by promising to drive the CPW (cost per wear) way down…so far so good….2 wears in 2 days….and if I had anything on the social calendar for tonight, you can bet I would have worn it again!
