I have written about it before, but Judy Maxwell Home has to be my favorite store in the city…
Only, “store” doesn’t do it justice - this place is more like a an urban treasure box filled with playful and artistic treats.
or as they put it:
Judy Maxwell turned out to be a diorama!
(a three-dimensional miniature model enclosed in a glass box),
except it’s not miniature.
We are a life-size diorama in the middle of Chicago’s Gold Coast.
One that’s constantly changing, but always full of fun, magical finds.
Like this…
Yesterday on my walk home, I couldn’t help but laugh at the world’s (?) largest beachball taking up most of their storefront. Just look at that thing!
Funny how I have gone 31 perfectly content years without a 12 foot beachball in my life and after one sighting, I suddenly can’t stop thinking about it.
If you are in the neighborhood, you really must stop by.
