Run Miles!  Make Babies!
Simon and I were blessed to have two relatively easy (so far, knock-on-wood!) and rapid-fire pregnancies. This is not something we take for granted….
In fact, since having Hazel (and getting to experience the immeasurable joy one little nugget can bring into a life), I have developed a whole new level of empathy for the couples out there struggling with infertility.  As a mom, I can’t imagine anything more heartbreaking and draining than being ready to start a family but being physically unable to do so….
Which is why I wanted to post about the upcoming Cade Foundation Illinois Race for the Family, hosted by the Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Nationally, 7.3 million couples in the US struggle with infertility.  In most states, medical insurance doesn’t cover the rising costs of assisted reproduction.  Without organizations like the Cade Foundation, many families will not be able to afford such procedures needed to start a family.
If you are looking for a heartwarming, family-friendly event where you can burn calories while raising awareness about infertility (talk about a win! win!), I’ve got just the thing for you!
What: Race for the Family, a 5k run/walk raising money for Families Overcoming Fertility
Date: Saturday June 23, 2012
Time: 8AM until 11AM.
Location: Deer Grove Forest Preserve, IL
In addition to the 5K, there will be a 1 mile Family Fun walk and free outdoor festival for parents and their children).  Their goal is to raise $50,000 for families battling infertility….so let’s help them out!
