The internet has brought me so many great things…
free 2 day shipping, streaming videos of long-closed broadway musicals, the ability to browse the entire Jimmy Choo collection from the comfort of my couch
but (and this is a pretty bold statement)
I have to say that the greatest thing the web has given me is my friendship with Danielle and David.
It started with an email…
Well technically it started with a blog post written by the delightful Ms. Julie where she gave a shout-out to one of her favorite bloggers: Danielle from Quarter Life Coe. I clicked through to check-out this new-to-me blog.
One page in and my blog-crush on Danielle was solidified. I spent the next hour reading through her archives, totally charmed by her tone and amazed by just how much we had in common (long distance runs with our dads, sisters at Vanderbilt and an appreciation for Conan Obrien, College Football and Carribean Sailing trips).
Then came the email. The email that went something like this:
“Hi Danielle. Emily here from Emphasis Added. I mean this in the least creepy way possible, but how are we not friends?!”
She wrote back and we set-up our first blog-date (husbands included): Brunch at Publican. And the rest is history…
It didn’t take long for us to realize we made a really solid foursome.
Finding couple friends, where the chemistry is there between all parties is tough…
but with them, it was the most natural thing in the world.
They became our favorite co-adventurers
(Dinners everywhere from Alinea to walk-up taco stands, Tough Climbs up tall hills and fast skis down steep mountains, Christmas in July, Christmas in December, Tailgate Debauchery, On-Field Cheer Jumps. Long talks, Hard laughs)
When we are together, the good times just don’t quit.
And when they moved from 2 blocks away to NYC…I’ve got to admit, I was sad….
Sad like a 4th grader who just found out her best friend’s dad was being relocated)
But the 3,000 mile gap has proved to be no match for our friendship.
Danielle and David were in town last weekend, and as we sat together in our pj’s on our terrace at 2am talk talk talking….I couldn’t help but think:
Man, I love these two.
And I am really freaking grateful to the world wide web and this little blog for bringing two of the neatest people I have ever known into my life.
There is nothing quite like really great friends, is there?
