Today was my first official day of Mat Leave.
There was a moment after Simon left for workand Hazel had gone down for her morning nap
that I said outloud, to no one in particular:  now what?
So, I made myself busy.I did laundry and scrubbed out a particularly stubborn blackberry stainI sorted through the mail, set-up auto-pay for our mortgage, Windexed bite-size hand-prints off the mirrors and windows throughout my houseFolded some towels…and refolded them all when I realized a tri-fold might be a better fit for our linen closet.
I checked my work email half a dozen times….you know, just in case the company couldn’t handle me being away (turns out, they were just fine)
And reorganized our coat closet.  A long overdue to-do.It looks so good.
The whole time I was kicking domestic-ass, I kept thinking:A monday morning, at home.  Weird.
But then Z woke up and Mama A swung by and the three of us hopped in the car and headed to visit great grandma b for some lunching & antiquing and I suddenly remembered how awesome this time-off business can be!
[Oh and I’m Posting this picture because that expression right there was pretty much the exact look Z gave me when I opened her bedroom door (instead of our nanny) after her nap.  Her eyes said “I don’t quite understand what is going on….but I am pretty sure it is AWEEEEESOME!”]
