Go Here: Antique Taco
On Thursday, the Chicago Bib Gourmand recipients were announced. Simon & I use this as our sort of restaurant check-list. Throughout the year we work our way through this collection of high quality/low(er) cost spots around the city.
On Friday, Simon took a vacation day and after reviewing our lunch options from the Bib list, we decided to check-out Antique Taco in wicker park. This was a very good decision.
The restaurant was adorable.
On 4Square, one of the comments said: This place should be called ETSY Taco. That made me laugh because it is true.
The vintage wood tables, and antiques strewn throughout the space were cute without being cluttered and served to create a warm, pretty space.
That is important to me, you know.
But the food was the main thing.
Fish Tacos, Ribeye Tacos, Tamarind Glazed Carnitas Taco
And this month’s “Guest Taco” by Bill Kim of Urban Belly (proceeds from this taco go to charity)
We also had Guacamole with feisty chunks of pickled peppers
and, wait for it, the Rosemary Margaritas
(Mama and I shared a QUART…again with the good decisions.)
It really shouldn’t be all that surprising that I was such a fan of this place…
I mean Antiques & Tacos, what’s not to like
But I was impressed.
Antique Taco: Awesome
