Happy New Year
…a few of days late!
Our NYE plans were rearranged by a very sick Felix. A 102 temp and all sorts of baby-snot resulted in lots of whimpering and absolutely no sleep for our poor little girl.
(Thankfully, after several days as an under the weather nugget - Fee’s fever broke and she went down in her crib last night which marks the first time in many days that Felix hasn’t been cuddled into one of our arms.)
We rung in the New Year as worried parents
(with not a sequin or champagne flute in sight)
but thanks to Super-Grandma H., we were able to make it to the most festive New Year’s Day brunch!
Spearheaded by Jamie & Chef Dave, we joined some of our buds at Carriage House to celebrate.
10 of us gathered around a corner table on the enclosed porch…
With Tartan riding blankets draped over the chairs
And a sun so bright it justified indoor sunglass use.
Bloody Marys
& Beignets (“the best type of Yays” as Jamie brilliantly stated)
& Fried Green Tomatoes
& Lobster, Pork, Grits
Not a bad first meal of the year!
If the food was great (and it was), the company was extraordinary!
Dare I say New Years Brunch is the new New Years Eve?
(And for my first photo of 2013, I present John Schaffer, Sabering Extraordinaire, with one of the party-poppers I just so happened to find in my purse.)
